Working and living on a family farm with over 200 years of heritage has provided great opportunities to not only become good stewards of the land, but also to be strong advocates for agriculture. Our family has always felt a great need and passion for public service and awareness for rural America and agriculture. Our family has had the pleasure of serving on many committees and boards over the years consisting of 2 state chairmen for the Tennessee Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers, State board members of Tennessee Farm Bureau, executive committee chairmen for the Tennessee Pork Producers, served terms on the Rutherford county agricultural committee, chairman for Cumberland Region Tomorrow, Consolidated Utility District president, and numerous county planning committees and appointments.
Our involvement has been so important to ensure that Tennessee’s Ag families voice continues to be heard within local, state and national legislative issues.
One of the more rewarding endeavors in recent history has been with “Wilbur” our beloved piglet from Charlotte’s Web. One of our little pigs was chosen to grace the cover of E.B White’s timeless classic as it was reproduced in conjunction with the remake of the movie in 2006. Our little Wilbur has continued to provide numerous educational opportunities within our community, at schools and even helped to raise funds for a new addition onto the children’s wing at the public library.
